United Tribes Technical College (UTTC) was granted candidacy status for accreditation by the North Central Association of Colleges and Schools in 1978. In 1982, UTTC was granted full accreditation status and has maintained continuous accreditation status since that time.

After the last comprehensive evaluation in 2011, UTTC was granted continued accreditation for all associate level degree programs, full authority to offer all degree programs on line, and approval of the institutional change to offer three baccalaureate degree programs. In 2016, UTTC was granted approval to offer a fourth baccalaureate degree in Environmental Science & Research. Comprehensive evaluations are scheduled for 2017 and 2021.

UTTC is also a member of the American Indian Higher Education Consortium and the North Dakota Tribal College Association.

The UTTC Automotive Technology program, working in conjunction with the National Automotive Technicians Education Foundation, qualifies graduates to take the nationally approved Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) certification exams. The Automotive Technology program achieved NATEF certification in the spring of 2013.

The UTTC Nutrition and Foodservice program is approved by the Association of Nutrition and Food Services Professionals, which allows graduates to qualify as Certified Dietary Managers (CDMs). Graduates are also eligible to write the National Restaurant Association ServSafe exam.

The UTTC Elementary Education bachelor of science degree program participated in a site visit for continuous approval in spring 2014. Institutional Effectiveness Committee (IEC)

The purpose of the Institutional Effectiveness Committee (IEC) is to determine institutional effectiveness appropriate to UTTC̢۪s mission statement. The IEC fulfills an advisory, monitoring and coordinating role for accreditation, assessment, and committee function.

Specifically, the Committee will:

  1. Develop and implement a coordinated process for reporting committee recommendations to the President and Administrative Council;
  2. Monitor a coordinated timeline for institutional assessment activities, including program/department reviews;
  3. Develop and oversee implementation of an assessment system for the General Education Institutional Learner Outcomes; and
  4. Monitor institutional compliance with the HLC Standard Pathway accreditation criteria.
