Certificate: GIS Technician

The Tribal Environmental Science (TES) department offers 5 Associate of Applied Science degrees: Environmental Science, Environmental Field Technician, Environmental Lab Technician, Environmental Pre-Engineering, and Geographic Information Systems (GIS) Technician.

Each degree integrates theory and research experiences to prepare learners to obtain positions in areas relating to environmental sciences. Students will be given opportunities to complete internships with local businesses and various agencies, including state and federal partners. Upon completion, the graduate can expect to find employment in jobs such as field technicians, lab technicians, GIS technicians, surveying, engineering technician, and tribal resource management positions.

The TES programs offer AAS degrees that are in line with other institutional programs making it easy for students to transfer seamlessly into a four year degree. Students entering the TES programs need to have a strong background in math and science or a strong desire to learn math and science concepts.
