Automobile technicians face a challenging future in the automotive field due to increased complexity of the electronic controlled components. The UTTC automotive training facility is equipped with state of the art equipment used by major dealerships and repair facilities.
Automotive Technology (AUT) provides theory plus the technical skills needed to enter the automotive repair job market. The graduate can continue a course of study in the field; pursue a career, such as auto specialist technician, service manager, shop foreman/service writer at the apprentice/entry level position, or as an owner of an independent repair facility.
Students entering the Automotive Technology major should have good math, reading, and computer skills to successfully complete the required courses.
The summer session is required to allow the students to meet the minimum hours of training required by the National Automotive Technicians Education Foundation, Inc.
