Overview: The Student Health Center administers health care services for United Tribes Technical College students and their dependents in accordance with provisions of the Indian Health Service P.L. 93-638 contract. The Student Health Center recognizes the cultural diversity of all clients, in particular those of the American Indian and Alaska Natives served.
Mission Statement: The mission of the Student Health Center is to raise the American Indian and Alaska Natives people's physical, mental, social and spiritual health to the highest level possible.
Goal: To assure that comprehensive, culturally acceptable, personal and public health services are available to American Indian and Alaska Native students and/or their dependents enrolled at United Tribes Technical College.
Value Statement: The values of human dignity, honesty and compassion, coupled with shared values of many different tribes and cultures that have come to be spoken of as "Indian Values", of listening, mutual respect, dignity and harmony must always be at the forefront of what we do and how we do it. We must be professional in all our actions.
Confidentiality Statement: Students have the right to expect that all aspects of care will be treated as confidential. Information is not shared with those not participating in the student's care. In the broadest sense, the health care team includes nurses, doctors, therapists and deans. However, access to student health records is limited to the Student Health Center staff and no one outside the Student Health Center may be given information without the consent of the individual involved. The one exception is in the cause of threat to life, when information will be shared with the deans and person listed as emergency contact. Health care records are confidential and maintained in locked file cabinets separate from other files. Prior to the release or transfer of records to the student or any person, party or agency outside the Student Health Center, the Student Health Center must have in it's possession a written release of information statement from the patient or patient's legal representative directing the release of this information.
