Program Learner Outcomes
Graduates of the Elementary Education AAS degree program will be able to:
- Demonstrate an understanding of the philosophical, historical, and legal foundations of education;
- Draw on knowledge and resources regarding a variety of instructional methods, techniques, and materials;
- Demonstrate techniques for using technology to assist the classroom teacher with teaching and the students with learning;
- Effectively employ a variety of strategies that reinforce positive student behavior and social interaction skills;
- Demonstrate ethical, sensitive and respectful communication techniques with students, families, teachers and other school and community personnel;
- Identify and conduct themselves as professionals who exhibit dispositions required of a member of an educational team; and
- Demonstrate excellent academic instructional skills in math, reading, writing and technology.
