Position Title: CRIMINAL JUSTICE INSTRUCTOR

SUMMARY OF DUTIES:
- Instructs students based upon the curriculum as approved by the Curriculum Committee and the Vice President of Academic, Career & Technical Education.
- Explains program and introduces new students to subject areas.
- Develops lesson plans and other course materials.
- Maintains and reports student attendance daily. Submits attendance report to the registrar office by Friday of each week.
- Evaluates student progress on a regular basis.
- Maintains individual student files.
- Prepares daily and weekly assignment cards.
- Attends regular department, faculty, and staff meetings as requested.
- Requisitions supplies and materials as necessary.
- Assures the Vice President of Academic, Career & Technical Education, in writing, that curriculum for academic/vocational programs has been reviewed, evaluated, and up-dated prior to the conclusion of the academic year.
- Keeps Vice President of Academic, Career & Technical Education, faculty, and staff informed to insure program continuity, integrity, and in compliance with application standards and guidelines.
- Additional responsibilities are: a) being sensitive to the cultures of the students they teach; b) learning about those cultures, and; c) integrating material from those cultures when it is appropriate.
- Participate in assessment, professional development, and other activities required by the institution.
- Primary advisor for students. This role is to be taken seriously and enter into advisement relationships with students insofar as these relationships do not interfere with other helping and/or therapeutic relationships that students have on campus.
- Will participate in other duties outside the classroom by membership in governance committees, participation in student activities, and advising such activities where appropriate.
- Will participate in graduation commencement wearing cap and gown.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
