SUMMARY OF DUTIES:
JOB DUTIES:
- Supervises security Chief and Deputy Chief, all security officers and two part-time safety officers;
- Oversees and approves of shift scheduling and hiring go fall new officers;
- Handles personnel disputes and disciplinary actions;
- Coordinates training activities, meetings, and other functions with Burleigh County Sheriff, Bismarck Police department, and other tribal, state, and federal law enforcement agencies;
- Develops cooperative & mutual relationships and positive image with students, staff, faculty, guests, dormitory & residential staff, and others;
- Fields and resolves student complaints about security actions;
- Oversees officer training;
- Develops and administers budgets for safety & security;
- Coordinates implementation of safety plan through cooperation with CERT team, safety staff, administration, and others as necessary;
- Coordinates quarterly safety drills, (i.e., lockdowns, fire drills, tornado drills, terrorist act response training, emergency communication training & protocol, etc.);
- Coordinates disaster preparedness plans for campus community;
- Coordinates campus communication during disaster & threats;
- Coordinates campus training & education sessions to help it prepare for emergency situations;
- Other duties as assigned.
WORKING CONDITIONS:
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor's degree in safety, law enforcement or closely related field required; Master's degree preferred.
- Knowledge of college campus safety issues.
- Excellent computer skills preferably Microsoft Office programs; Will need to learn and administer Jenzabar Student Life Module.
- Excellent communication and verbal/writing skills.
- Detail oriented.
- Ability to multitask.
