Position Title:  SWITCHBOARD OPERATOR
Department:  Administration
Reports Directly To:  President

Status:  Non-exempt
Salary:  $8.00 hr

SUMMARY OF DUTIES:

Under the direct supervision of the Administrative Secretary, performs all or some of the following duties:
  1. Operates telephone switchboard to establish or assist staff in placing local or long distance telephone connect¬ion.
  2. Answers all incoming phone calls and routes calls to appropriate offices, may give assistance to caller if applicable.
  3. Distributes and notifies all personnel and customers of any changes in the telephone communication system.
  4. Maintains telephone log of all calls incoming and outgoing.
  5. Request maintenance of equipment and supplies of services when they are needed.
  6. Types reports, correspondence, forms, and other documents.
  7. Greets visitors and conducts visitors to appropriate person.
  8. Performs other duties as assigned.

SUPERVISION EXERCISED:

None.

WORKING CONDITIONS:

General office conditions.

QUALIFICATIONS:

High school diploma or equivalent and (1) year paid full-time related experience.

OTHER REQUIREMENTS:

Ability to type 50 words per minute without error, knowledge of office machines and switchboard.

Preference will be given to bona fide American Indian applicants in accordance with UTTC policies and Federal Indian regulations for such preference.
