Position Title: Fitness Specialist
Department: Strengthening Lifestyles
Reports Directly To: Strengthening Lifestyles Director
Opening Date: December 28, 2010
Closing Date: Open Until Filled
Status: Part-Time; 9- Month Academic year; Non-Exempt
Salary: $13.00/hr
SUMMARY OF DUTIES:
- Assists all staff, faculty, and students to provide fitness assessments and fitness programs.
- Assist with the development, coordination and implementation of new and innovative fitness incentive programs, services and activities, ie: Measure Up to Good Health, Walking Club.
- Program development and delivery, program communications and customer (student/staff/faculty/ community members) relations.
- Assists with designing, development, and deliver a variety of wellness-fitness programs and services consistent with the overall Strengthening Lifestyles program goals.
- Assist with Youth Activities and Wellness Activities.
- Gather data and include in monthly report utilizing daily activity report, assessment tool.
- Create all types of communication materials including e-mail messages, displays, website content, newsletters articles, flyers.
- Develop and deliver oral presentations to student/staff/faculty audiences.
- Motivate and recruit individuals to participate and maintain fitness plan.
- Provide clients with information and resources in regards to nutrition, weight control and other lifestyles issues.
- Hold client confidentiality in highest regard.
- Manage fitness center facilities operations, programs, services and maintenance.
- Supervises and maintains upkeep of areas including sauna/whirlpool/fitness room, weight room horseshoe pits, big & small gym, ball fields, weight room, and other outside areas.
- Enforces safety rules and maintain safety compliance, ie: whirlpool ph levels.
- Ability to provide coverage for regular Strengthening Lifestyles staff.
- Provides excellent customer service to fitness participants.
- Must work well within a team.
- Attends meetings as required.
- Daily cleaning duties as assigned.
- Performs other duties as assigned.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- Associates degree in Wellness or fitness fields preferred or two years of experience.
- CPR, AED, and First Aid Certification or must be willing and able to receive one in 60 days of UTTC employment.
- Valid and current ND Driver's License with CDL endorsement; or must be willing to obtain endorsement and license within 60 days of employment. UTTC will pay expenses required to obtain licensure.
- Excellent customer service skills.
- Knowledge of MS Access, Word, and Excel.
- Team oriented employee.
- Works collaboratively with the Strengthening Lifestyles staff and UTTC community.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

- This position requires regular use of hands and arms to feel, handle, or reach.
- Frequently required to stand and walk.
- Occasionally required to sit; climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
- Must regularly lift and/or move up to 100 pounds.
- Close and distant vision is required along with; color vision, peripheral, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
