SUMMARY OF DUTIES:

The Retention Coordinator is part of a motivated and professional team that provides leadership in student services for the UTTC college community. This position performs the following duties:
  1. Collaborates with other departments and offices, particularly Admissions & Recruiting and Enrollment Management to facilitate new student orientation activities for students and families.
  2. Develops, monitors and maintains the UTTC Student Retention Plan and reports on the institution’s progress in implementation of the plan to college Administration.  Assists with particular plan activities as required.
  3. Analyzes institutional performance data to recommend appropriate adjustments to departmental practices. Prepares timely reports required to assess and project institutional progress toward key student retention and degree attainment indicators.
  4. Provide research and policy development leadership that incorporates best practices for student retention, particularly in the development, refinement and implementation of the institutional student retention plan.
  5. Provides process and policy audits to other offices and departments upon request. 
  6. Coordinate activities to retain students during at times of high attrition rates such as holidays and breaks.
  7. Select and implement an online student satisfaction tracking program to provide data on student satisfaction. 
  8. Assist with policy coordination for management of the UTTC Early Alert System including assessment of data reliability and evaluation of the impact of EAS indicators on student attrition.
  9. Manages the student exit interview and return planning process, including developing policies and procedures and tracking institutional participation.
  10. Evaluate the effectiveness of the first year experience core courses including potentially Assist First Year Experience Seminar (College Success), Career Success and Wellness classes.
  11. Prepares reports and analysis of institutional data indicators through use of the Jenzabar and InfoMaker programs and incorporates these indicators into research and activities. 
  12. Serve as the chair of the UTTC Retention Committee, and serve on other committees as assigned. 
  13. Other duties as assigned.

SUPERVISION EXERCISED:

May have to supervise student workers and chaperone on certain experiential learning experiences.

WORKING CONDITIONS:

Normal working hours are from 8:00 am until 5:00 pm with one hour for lunch.  Additional hours will be required as needed to complete projects.  Occasional travel may be required.  Ability to lift, bend, stoop, and carry equipment as needed.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Masters degree in education preferred, bachelors degree required.  Must have experience using data bases, spreadsheets, and all Microsoft Office Products.  Must have knowledge of web-site development.  Experience with data analysis including statistics and SPSS software preferred.
