Position Title: Housing Compliance Officer/Custodian

SUMMARY OF DUTIES:
Under the supervision of the Housing Director, performs all or some of the following duties:
- Clean and minor maintenance at the August Little Soldier (ALS) apartment and Solo Dorm complexes, such as, laundry rooms which would include lint traps, wipe off washer and dryers, clean windows, doors, sweep and mop, take out trash, and pick up the yard on a daily basis. Regular cleaning at the ALS apartment commons area.
- Clean UTTC Houses, inside, such as, disinfect and mop floors, walls, shampoo carpets and furniture, wipe windows, clean stoves, clean refrigerators, toilets, sinks, cupboards, etc. Clean, outside, such as, wipe off graffiti and mud. Pick up and remove any debris when needed. Provide maintenance work orders for spraying every April and late August.
- Clean UTTC Washington Court apartments off campus, such as, as mentioned above and to include vacuuming floors and calling Action Cleaners to shampoo carpets per move out.
- Report maintenance work orders to the Office Assistant upon request by a tenant, staff, or self.
- Report vacancies, abandonments, pet violations, tenant damage, wear and tear maintenance work, and plumbing, heating/cooling issues, windows/blind replacements, snow removal, vehicle removals, furniture replacements or removals. Reports shall be made daily to the Housing department and immediately for dangerous/emergent situations.
- Dangerous and emergency reports shall include a phone call to the Security, then, the Housing Director.
- Participates in a daily staff meeting to go over the cleaning and furniture schedule.
- Organizes and monitors deadlines for tenants whom are to move out and move in.
- Arranges all the house cleaners’ and student (house cleaner) worker’s schedule for the day.
- Performs Move In/Move Out Inspections for new and departing tenants.
- Performs monthly housing inspections and correspondence that follows.
- Orders cleaning supplies as needed.
- Keeps an inventory record of all furniture taken in and removed.
- Documents tenant’s activities to assure tenant’s responsibilities are satisfied and complete.
- Delivers Housing notices, memos, and letters from time to time.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
WORKING CONDITIONS:
Position requires cleaning, inspecting, lifting, stooping, crawling and climbing in the performance of duties. Must be able to lift up to 30 lbs. Normal working hours are from 8:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m. with one hour for lunch break. There will be overtime as the need arises.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Qualified applicant will have a high school diploma or equivalent or one year of cleaning or housing experience. Must have had a valid driver’s license for the past five years and be able to provide proof during the interview. Must be a self starter and have the ability to lead a team. Preference is given to the applicant who has any prior experience of taking charge but is not required.

Preference will be given to bona fide American Indian applicants in accordance with UTTC policies and Federal Indian regulations for such preference.
