Position Title: Head Cross Country/Track & Field Coach
Department: Athletic Department

Status: Part-Time; 9-Month Academic Year
Salary:  $6,000.00

SUMMARY OF DUTIES:

Duties and Responsibilities include the following:

  1. The Head Coach is responsible for coordinating all aspects of the Men’s and Women’s Cross Country and Track & Field Programs, including conducting daily practice sessions, and transporting student-athletes to scheduled meets.
  2. The Head Coach is under the direct supervision of the Athletic Director regarding all coaching duties.
  3. Must comply with the policies and procedures set forth by United Tribes Technical College, Mon-Dak Conference, and National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA).
  4. Monitor mandatory weekly study tables, and the academic progress of the student-athletes.
  5. Must be able to maintain discipline of student-athletes.
  6. The Head Coach will be responsible for the recruitment of student-athletes, in the sport of Cross Country and Track & Field.
  7. Other duties as assigned.

WORKING CONDITIONS:

Position will require working evenings, weekends, and out-of-town travel.  Will need to be able to bend, stoop, walk, and run as part of daily functions.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  1. Must have a working knowledge of the Sport of Cross Country, and Track & Field.  The ability to plan effective practice sessions, and have previous coaching and/or collegiate participation in the sport.
  2. Must have experience in prevention and care of athletic injuries.
  3. Bachelor’s Degree Required.
  4. An acceptable motor vehicle record with a valid commercial driver’s license or the ability to obtain one upon hire.  A copy will need to be submitted upon application.

OTHER REQUIREMENTS:

Preference will be given to bona fide American Indian applicants in accordance with UTTC policies and Federal Indian regulations for such preference.
