SUMMARY OF DUTIES:
- Instructs students based upon the curriculum as approved by the curriculum Development Committee and the Vice President of Academic, Career and Technical Education.
- Develops and adjusts lesson plans and other course materials to meet the needs of students. Instructors must be sensitive to the cultures of the students they teach, learn about those cultures, and integrate culturally appropriate and culturally relevant material when appropriate.
- Evaluates students’ progress.
- Requisition supplies and materials as necessary and set up for the labs.
- Previews and makes recommendations regarding the purchase of materials or equipment.
- Keeps a record of weekly Coursework in MyUTTC LMS computer system.
- Reports student absences weekly using MyUTTC LMS computer sytem.
- Other duties as assigned that pertain to job function.
SUPERVISION EXERCISED:
None.
WORKING CONDITIONS:
Instructor will conduct class according to the course schedule (8:00 am-12:00 pm, Thursdays) in the classroom or commercial teaching kitchen lab. Job requires lifting and standing for long periods of time. Will need to requisition and pick up groceries required for class. Will need access to a computer to use MyUTTC LMS computer system.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Must have an Associate’s degree in Culinary Arts or related field. Five (5) years of chef or industry experience. One to two years teaching experience preferred. Current ServSafe or Food Handlers certification.
Candidate must possess leadership, communication skills and technical ability to relay culinary information to students in a lecture/lab environment that provides a positive learning experience and instills a passion for the profession.OTHER REQUIREMENTS:
Preference will be given to bona fide American Indian applicants in accordance with UTTC policies and Federal Indian regulations for such preference.
If selected for the position, the applicant is subject to a complete background investigation with favorable determination.
