Position Title: Early Childhood Educator (FACE Program)
Department: Theodore Jamerson Elementary School
Reports Directly To: Vice President of Early Childhood Services

SUMMARY OF DUTIES:
- Will provide a strong learning environment where preschool children can develop and thrive.
- Will model for parents on teaching, motivating and communicating with young children.
- Will serve for the Center-Based component of Family and Children Education (FACE) program serving families of 3 to 5-year old children.
- Implements the High/Scope preschool curriculum.
- Maintains up-to-date files on each student. Prepares accurate reports, written plans and documents.
- Contributes to required monthly reports, end of the year report, and data collection.
- Completes the Work Sampling System assessment for each student in the fall and spring.
- Arranges for and/or provides screening services for children and referral services, as indicated.
- Maintains weekly and daily lesson plans.
- Uses a variety of instructional approaches, materials and techniques to ensure that children learn to their fullest potential.
- Be knowledgeable and share information with families about community resources and further academic opportunities.
- Arranges the classroom in organized and accessible learning. Ensures that program materials, equipment, and environment are kept clean, secure, and free from clutter and vandalism.
- Provides a learning environment that is full of literacy learning opportunities and reflects the language and culture of the families.
- Provides a daily routine that is consistent and includes all the required elements of a FACE program.
- Plans with FACE staff strategies for recruiting families to participate in FACE program. Establishes rapport with families participating in FACE program.
- Assists in implementing activities to promote the social, emotional, physical and cognitive growth of children, ages 0-5.
- Recognizes behavior and/or development of children deviating from the norms.
- Will screen each child enrolled in the FACE program using prescribed assessment tolls, including PAT Health Questionnaire, hearing and vision functional assessments, direct observations onsite, PT Milestones, and the AGES and Stages Questionnaire.
- Uses paraprofessional knowledge of early detection of delayed development in order to make referrals to appropriate diagnostic and/or treatment processes.
- Collaborate with other appropriate agencies/programs.
- Helps families to access community resources.
- Works as a team member of FACE program: recruiting, advertising, visiting families, writing newsletter articles to publicize program and encourage participation.
- Plans PACT Time with the rest of the FACE team and fully participates in PACT Time daily.
- Meets weekly with the FACE team to plan and evaluate program services.
- Plans and facilitates Parent Time with the FACE team. Helps facilitate the monthly Parent Group meetings.
- Perform other duties as assigned.

- Maintains confidentiality.
- Must be physically qualified in performing highly active technician work associated with FACE program.
- Must be able to travel extensively and must be able to operate a motor vehicle.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- Must possess a Bachelor of Science degree in Early Childhood Education (Birth – 3 months) or Kindergarten endorsement.
- Must posses a North Dakota State teacher’s certificate.
- Must be certified by PAT after training and maintain certification annually.
- Must have a valid North Dakota Driver’s License.

Preference will be given to bona fide American Indian applicants in accordance with UTTC policies and Federal Indian regulations for such preference.
