Position Title:  Daycare Aide - Evening Care (Part-Time)
Department:  Child Development Center
Reports Directly To: Center Director
Status: Non-Exempt

SUMMARY OF DUTIES:

Under the direct supervision of the Center Director, performs all or some of the following duties:

  1. Greets children, parents and staff in a friendly manner and maintains a good working relationship with families.
  2. Maintain a positive and constant interaction with the children and staff.
  3. Assist in serving evening meal and snack to the children.
  4. Under the supervision of the Center Director, may develop and implement developmentally appropriate activity plans for the children.
  5. Assist children during table activities that are appro­priate to their age and development using a variety of creative materials.
  6. Responsible for documenting and monitoring children’s behaviors and activities on a daily basis.
  7. Helps children develop good cleaning habits, i.e. picking up after themselves.
  8. Models and teaches children personal hygiene as appropriate to their age and development.
  9. Ability to work with children ranging from infants and toddlers to preschool.
  10. Maintain flexibility as may be assigned from one center to another as the need arises.
  11. Completes requirements of county-approved training hours for licensing.
  12. Other duties as assigned.

INDEPENDENCE OF ACTION:

Must be able to make good rational decisions regarding the safety of children at all times.

The ability to work as a team with other center staff.

At all times, be caring and nurturing of all children in the centers.

SUPERVISION EXERCISED:

The supervision of young children in their care.

WORKING CONDITIONS:

The position will require lifting, stooping, crawling and cleaning in the performance of daily activities.  Regular 4 hour shifts – Monday through Thursday.  There may be a possibility of coming in contact with communicable diseases and a possibility of reporting child abuse.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

High School Diploma or equivalent, experience working with children.

OTHER QUALIFICATIONS:

Must be punctual and dependable, has to be motivated and energetic.

Individual must complete the North Dakota Self Certification form for Early Childhood Staff/Childcare Providers as a part of the application process and have a TB Skin Test. Applicants must successfully pass a back ground check.

Preference will be given to bona fide American Indian applicants in accordance with UTTC policies and Federal Indian regulations for such preference.
