Position Title: Food Service Manager
Department:  Student & Campus Services
Reports Directly To: Vice President of Student & Campus Services
Status: Exempt, 12 month
Opening Date: August 25, 2010

Salary: $DOE

SUMMARY OF DUTIES:

Under the direct supervision of the Vice President of Student and Campus Services, will perform all or part of the following duties:

  1. Ensure that all federal, state and local health codes for food service operations are followed through supervising and training staff
  2. Ensure departmental effectiveness through designing departmental goals and food service assessment tools and evaluation methods. Follow up assessment with appropriate interventions
  3. Supervise the entire food preparation
  4. Create and manage annual budget, ensuring that costs do not exceed the amount of money allocated for food services
  5. Order necessary supplies, food and other ingredients
  6. Supervise and schedule all cafeteria staff
  7. Plan menu
  8. Hires, supervises, and evaluates program and direct report staff
  9. Organize and maintain the inventory of all good ordered
  10. Oversee catering aspect of the position, creating and maintaining a menu, managing the income and profits to benefit the overall cafeteria
  11. Create and maintain training plans for self and all staff
  12. Collaborates with other staff to develop systems that ensure consistency
  13. Promote a customer friendly environment for all who visit food services area
  14. Represents the Cafeteria Program on institutional committees as needed
  15. Other duties as assigned.

INDEPENDENCE OF ACTION:

Able to make decisions based on policy and procedure of UTTC.

SUPERVISION EXERCISED:

All cafeteria and food services personnel.

WORKING CONDITIONS:

Will be required to work some weekends and evenings.  Must be able to work long hours, able to handle stress and make decisions on while managing a hectic schedule.  Must have good people and customer skills, initiative, an impeccable appearance, good problem solving and communication skills, and the ability to lead and motivate others.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

Must be able to lift, bend and stand long hours.

Preference will be given to bona fide American Indian applicants in accordance with UTTC policies and Federal Indian regulations for such preference.
