Position Title: Development Director
Department:  Administration

SUMMARY OF DUTIES:

The Development Director is responsible for the planning and implementation of a comprehensive development program for the college, including corporate, private and family foundation grant making, direct mail, major gifts, sponsorships, special events and marketing and fundraising related communications. The Development Director reports (works with) directly to the President and will work closely with the Administrative Council, Board of Directors, and all UTTC staff. Will perform the following duties:
  1. Identify research, cultivate and solicit foundation, corporate, government and individual donors to support UTTC's mission.
  2. Direct the preparation of all grant and sponsorship proposals/applications.
  3. Work directly with the President, the Administrative Council on all major donor solicitations.
  4. Produce quarterly and yearly reports as needed.
  5. Seek out grant research and writing.
  6. Oversees the Title III, part F grant.
  7. Ensures the expenditures of title funds.
  8. Monitors and approves of title II funds.
  9. Write title reports.
  10. Works with the Title III staff, Development and Rapid City site.

SUPERVISION EXERCISED:

Reports to the Director of Development

WORKING CONDITIONS:

Office, Local travel and Occasional Trips

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

Valid Driver's License.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Master’s degree in business administration, management, or financial management related fields.
  • Minimum of 3 years successfully proven experience in fund raising and supervisory responsibilities.
  • Strong analytical skills and ability to develop and translate data and financials.
  • Excellent problem solving skills and ability to anticipate and respond to change.
  • Team player with the ability to prioritize and handle multiple responsibilities in a fast paced, deadline-driven environment.
  • Well-developed communication and negotiation skills.
  • Proficient in Excel, Word, and other Microsoft office software.
Preference will be given to bona fide American Indian applicants in accordance with UTTC policies and Federal Indian regulations for such preference.
