Position Title: HIT Medical Coding Tutor

Salary: $16.00 - $32.00 per hour DOQ

SUMMARY OF DUTIES:

Under the direct supervision of the Health Information Technology Medical Coding Program Chair/Instructor, the Health Information Technology Tutor will be responsible for the following duties:
  1. Tutors will assist students and faculty in all operational and academic functions of Medical Coding Program.
  2. Tutors will be able to tutor Reading, Writing, Medical Terminology, Medical Law & Ethics, Medical Insurance & Billing, Coding and Reimbursement, and Learning Skills (including computer skills), etc., as required.
  3. Tutors will help students with subject content according to individual strengths.
  4. Tutors will learn and be able to help students with study strategies and techniques.
  5. Tutors will assist in development and evaluation of tutoring material and services.

SUPERVISION EXERCISED:

None.

WORKING CONDITIONS:

The HIT Department and its Medical Coding Program, provides a culturally diverse environment within its otherwise normal and general classroom and office conditions, including online course delivery.

Part-time (1-12 hours per week), afternoons.

This position requires long periods of sitting. Must be able to ascend/descend a flight of stairs (50-steps) and occasionally lift items not heavier than 25 pounds.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  1. Education: Associates Degree from an accredited Health Information Technology Program or Education, or related field preferred.
  2. Experience: Prior experience with educating and training is ideal.

Preference will be given to bona fide American Indian applicants in accordance with UTTC policies and Federal Indian regulations for such preference.
