United Tribes NewsUnited Tribes Beading & Quilting Classes
By Barb Strikes The Enemy, Arthur and Grace Link Child Development Center Director
The Child Development Center and Strengthening lifestyles have been collaborating on a beading class that takes place each Wednesday evening at 6 p.m. in Building 100, the Arthur and Grace Link Child Development Center.
I teach different techniques of beading and sewing on regalia and accessories. All necessary supplies are provided to get started.
We do Native American Traditional Beadwork. Some beadwork repair has been done and I have helped some learn how to bead on graduation caps.
This class is open to UTTC college students, preschool parents, and UTTC staff and families.
We do not provide childcare during this activity, so they need to make arrangements for their children, unless they are old enough to sit and bead with us. Some of the time is spent on instruction, so we ask that parents of little children make arrangements. And we use sharp tools, such as needles, rotary scissors, scissors, porcupine quills and we wouldn’t want little people to get hurt.
I am the contact person for the beading class: 701-255-3285 x 1248, firstname.lastname@example.org.
The Strengthening Lifestyles Program offers a Quilting Class every Sunday afternoon at 2 p.m. in the Healing Room of the Lewis Goodhouse Wellness Center on the UTTC campus.
The class is open to open to UTTC students. No childcare is provided, so arrangements must be made elsewhere for children. It is an extra-curricular activity.
There are four star quilt tops to hand quilt, and when finished we will raffle them, with the proceeds going for additional supplies to make more star tops.
