United Tribes NewsIndian Youth Leadership Academy outlined

SPARK OF INTEREST: Success stories have been emphasized as a group of “youngish” American Indian professionals promoted the revival of an Indian youth leadership program to the North Dakota Legislature over the winter. Organizers are, from left, Blaise Reagle, Bob Parisien, Karla Davis, Royce Irwin, Chad Kramer, Erik Cutler and Scott Davis. They aim to revitalize a North Dakota Indian Youth Leadership Academy for teens that would be similar to one that some of them attended when they were younger. Before that effort ceased in the 1990s it kindled leadership interest in many Indian young people. An appropriation of $40,000 would help operate two, week-long academies during the next biennium. Participating organizations are United Tribes Technical College, Bismarck State College, and University of Mary.
