BISMARCK (UTN) - United Tribes Technical College offers a series of non-credit classes throughout the month of April that focus on traditional American Indian knowledge as revealed through language, culture and philosophy.
The series is titled: "Traditional Knowledge Through the Lakota Language".
Instruction is provided through gender appropriate teaching by Tom Red Bird, bilingual instructor at Theodore Jamerson Elementary School and Doris Red Bird, also a UTTC employee.
Eight evening sessions are offered from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. each Tuesday and Thursday throughout the month of April, beginning Tuesday April 4.
Students will learn Lakota vocabulary, pronunciation, and grammar as well as explore cultural knowledge, values, and concepts which are expressed through the Lakota language.
Members of the public may enroll. The course fee is $160.
Classes take place in the Jack Barden Student Life and Technology Center room 209.
