AIHEC honors outgoing director

POWWOW CEREMONY: The outgoing director of the American Indian Higher Education Consortium was honored during the organization's 27th annual conference in Bismarck. Dr. Gerald Gipp (Standing Rock Lakota), at center with blanket, was recognized March 17 with an honor song during the conference powwow. Colleagues, friends and relatives filed past to shake hands with Gipp and other tribal college leaders. Gipp will retire June 1 after more than seven years as AIHEC's executive director and an extensive career in American Indian education.
