The definition of software licensing is allowing an individual or group to use a piece of software. Most software applications are licensed and not sold. Purchasing a license allows the user only to use the software in parameters defined in the license agreement. Licensing can be based on number of users or by number of machines that will connect to the application.
Most personal computer software licenses allow you to run the program on only one machine and to make copies of the software only for backup purposes. It is important to be aware of the type of licensing that you have on you personal machines.
The IT department at United Tribes has the responsibility of ensuring that all software is properly licensed. We have made great progress in ensuring that we are adhering to all software licenses and following all purchase agreements appropriately.
his includes Microsoft, Adobe, Symantec, Veritas, Audocad, and Macromedia. We would like to thank all campus departments for your cooperation in meeting this goal.
We have taken measures to secure the agreements and accompanying disks. It is important that before downloading or installing any software that you check with the IT Dept.
