UTTC Graduation set for May 3

BISMARCK (UTN) – The 2013 commencement ceremony for United Tribes Technical College is scheduled for 1 p.m. on Friday, May 3 at the college in Bismarck.

One-hundred-twenty-one students from 21 different tribes will be honored with Bachelor of Science degrees, Associate of Applied Science degrees, or Certificates of Completion, having graduated from the college’s academic, vocational and workforce training programs.

Weather permitting, the ceremony that concludes the 2012-13 academic year will be outdoors in Lone Star Arena, the powwow dance arbor in the center of campus. Otherwise it takes place in the college gymnasium.

In addition to family members and friends, the event will be attended by tribal leaders on the college’s governing board who represent the tribes of North Dakota: Mandan/Hidatsa/Arikara Nation, Sisseton-Wahpeton Oyate, Spirit Lake Tribe, Standing Rock Tribe, and Turtle Mountain Band of Chippewa. A traditional meal will be served at the college cafeteria following the ceremony.

The United Tribes Student and Athletic Awards Banquet is scheduled for 5:30 p.m. Thursday, May 2 at the Bismarck Elks Lodge, 900 S. Washington Street.
