Actor Gary Farmer is guest speaker at dinner

BISMARCK (UTN) - Farmer will address friends and supporters of Untied Tribes Technical College Monday, May 3 at Apple Creek Country Club.

      Farmer is a Canadian artist, writer, actor, media producer and musician. His acting roles, especially in the films Powwow Highway and Smoke Signals, have endeared him to audiences throughout Indian Country.

      He will be guest speaker for the David M. Gipp Native American Leaders Fellowship Dinner starting at 6:30 p.m. He will talk about the importance of supporting Native American youth in developing leadership skills.

      Proceeds from the event will support United Tribes students who are selected for the leaders fellowships.

      Farmer visited United Tribes recently during the spring tour of his blues band, “Gary Farmer and the Troublemakers.”
