United Tribes NewsUTTC Groundbreaking Scheduled
25 May 2006
United Tribes Technical College will host a groundbreaking ceremony Friday, June 2, starting at 8:30 a.m., for a 24 unit family apartment complex to be built on the college campus in Bismarck.
Special guests include North Dakota U. S. Senator Kent Conrad and Tex G. Hall, chair, UTTC Board and Mandan-Hidatsa-Arikara Nation.
The $2.7 million facility will address the chronic shortage of affordable housing for families as more American Indian students than ever are seeking higher education opportunities in a safe and culturally meaningful environment.
Funding is provided, in part, with a tax credit awarded through the N.D. Housing Finance Agency, and a grant from the U. S. Department of Housing and Urban Development. The units will be constructed by the UTTC Construction Technology Department. Construction is scheduled to begin June 6.
Press and public are invited to attend. Parking is available at the rear of the UTTC Cafeteria, adjacent to the apartment complex site.
