Quilt signals project success
30 May 2012

PATCHWORK OF WISDOM: This amazing quilt was created with blocks provided by each TCU that participated in the Woksape Oyate project, which means "Wisdom of the People" in Lakota. The project of the American Indian College Fund helped build the intellectual capital of tribal colleges, funded by a grant from the Lilly Endowment. The UTTC block, made by Deb Hempler of the HR Dept., is in the mid-lower right titled “Walking the Path Between Two Worlds.” It signifies the importance of learning and practicing traditional ways, and blending them with modern methods, to empower graduates as they enter the workforce. United Tribes used Woksape Oyate to help create bachelor-level degree programs in business administration, criminal justice and elementary/special education. To learn more about the project and how it was implemented at each TCU, use this link to the College Fund website: http://www.collegefund.org/content/woksape_oyate – Stacie L.
