Gorman print donated to UTTC art collection
1 December 2004

Gorman print 'Evangelina'

The simple and elegant "Evangelina," a print by the noted artist R. C. Gorman (Navajo), was added to the UTTC art collection in November. It arrived in the hands of UTTC art students owing to the generosity of Colleen Carmichael (far left), Bismarck, who gifted it to the college. She, and her late husband Virgil, were acquainted with the artist and collected his works while living in New Mexico in the 1950s. Receiving Evangelina for the College are, from left, LaRae Landreaux (Cheyenne River), David Black Cloud (Standing Rock), Dustin Black (Spirit Lake), Andrea Eagle Pipe (Rosebud) and UTTC Art/Art Marketing Director/Instructor Wayne Pruse. Students and teacher were treated to a mini-tour by Mrs. Charmichael of her varied art collection, which included other Gorman prints and several by Salvador Dali. Evangelina is on display at present in the UTTC administration building.
