UTTC students learn online using computers in the computer lab located at the Jack Bardent Center on campus.

United Tribes Technical College offers coursework and degree programs through its Office of Extended Learning. Extended Learning is defined by our college as teaching and learning that occurs when the learner and teacher are in different locations or when the learning and teaching occur asynchronously.

UTTC offers Extended Learning through two different technologies: interactive video networking and online. UTTC utilizes Jenzabar LMS and is an institutional participant in the North Dakota interactive video network (IVN) system.

Office of Extended Learning
United Tribes Technical College Office of Extended Learning (OEL) offers a combination of opportunities for individuals to obtain online degrees, dual-credit, and Continuing Education Units (CEUs).

Online Diplomas and Degrees
UTTC provides a student-centered online experience through a user-friendly platform to full-time and part-time students.  UTTC’s online programs provide students the option of completing assignments and study on their own time, in a self-selected environment.  Students are guided through their coursework by weekly, posted deadlines.   Online courses are offered over the Internet, therefore; basic computer skills requiring a web browser and word processor with continuous online participation and communication with the course facilitator are essential for student success. Using a computer and reliable Internet service, students can access course resources, collaboration room forums, assignments, and assessments through my.uttc.edu, the learning management system.

UTTC offers one certificate completely online: This Program of Study is:

  • Medical Coding & Billing

UTTC offers two Associate of Applied Science degrees completely online, in addition to being offered on the UTTC campus:

  • Criminal Justice
  • General Studies

Continuing Education Units
The UTTC Office of Extended Learning provides campus entities and non-UTTC organizations the opportunity to offer United Tribes Technical College Continuing Education Units (CEUs) as an added value to employee and personal development. The continuing education unit allows United Tribes Technical College (UTTC) to record an individual’s successful completion of various activities, allowing individuals to earn CEUs in order to maintain or increase expertise in a career field or renew professional licenses. It is solely up to the certifying agency — not UTTC — whether to accept or decline UTTC CEUs.

The CEU is a uniform unit of measurement for non-credit continuing education activities that meet certain requirements. According to the International Association for Continuing Education and Training, one CEU is defined as 10 contact hours of participation in an organized continuing education experience under responsible sponsorship, capable direction and qualified instruction.

A CEU is not equivalent to undergraduate or graduate credit and CEUs are only recorded to one decimal point (i.e., 15 contact hours is equivalent to 1.5 CEUs). Individuals who successfully complete approved programs are awarded a certificate for United Tribes Technical College CEUs.

In order to offer UTTC CEUs the applicant must apply through the UTTC Office of Extended Learning.
